On May 30th, the ICR team hosted an innovative workshop at the Prishtina International Summer School, aligning with this year’s overarching theme: “Digitalization for Health and Social Impact.”
International and local students collaborated to explore how to implement the Future Care Lab in different institutional activities or projects in order to revolutionize education, research & innovation, and interdisciplinary efforts in an effective and sustainable manner.
Workshop Overview
The workshop started with an introduction of the ICR project and the approach it promotes to gain as well as transfer (digital) knowledge. It was followed with ‘thought-provoking’ group work where students had to think of ideas and ways to use digital technologies in general and the Future Care Lab with its approach of knowledge transfer in special from different perspectives.
Participants were organized into groups to reflect on and strategize comprehensible formats how they could leverage this advanced lab for, analyzing different barriers as well as facilitators:
1. Enhancing Education– addressed how the Future Care Lab could be used for sensitization and information of future health professionals concerning the reflective application of digital and robotic devices. Especially the need to combine theoretical and ethical knowledge with practice throughout the studies and even in further education programs was highlighted. (The group was mentored by Jenny-Victoria Steindorff, PhD candidate.)
2. Driving Innovation and Research– focused on exploring how the future care lab could be used to help them with final thesis projects, by testing several devices in different contexts. They also focused on understanding how the future care lab could connect researchers and innovators to the users. (The group was hosted by Erza Selmani, PhD- candidate.)
3. Promoting Interdisciplinary Collaboration– highlighted the importance of a lab activity platform that could be connected to the curriculum and clinical scenarios. In addition, they discussed voluntary lab exchanges, seminars and other events to connect students to other professionals and industry representatives. (The group was hosted by Prof. Dr. Patrick Jahn, project director)
The ICR project remains dedicated to enable mutual collaboration and foster research, innovation and education in the Southeast Europe.
Until next year…
